Question 1: How has quarantine affected your life?
Answer 1: Negative first: Well, I am out of work, I miss my coworkers, I miss the kids at school, and socializing with other people. I don’t have much of a sense of purpose anymore, because I am out of work, my family has a difficult financial situation, I also no longer have medical care. I am also just cooped up. Now positive: I have had more time to spend with God and read my bible. I have had time to spend quality time with my family and to rest and relax. I have been able to cook good meals and eat them. I am trying to be more positive and thankful for my freedom.
Question 2: Has it been easier or harder schooling Isaiah from home?
Answer 2: It has been harder for sure. I appreciate his teachers, I love them. He dreads doing work every day I want him to do everything he can, we spend about 4-5 hours a day at the table doing school work.
Question 3: What has your family been doing together to have fun?
Answer 3: We have been playing a lot of board games, and playing outside. We also sometimes play video games and go “camping” in our garage We do arts and crafts and sports.

Answer 4: I think we are already adjusted. When you have to do something, you have to do it. I do miss church, online church is nice but it’s just not the same. I miss interacting with people. I don’t think that I could do this forever, but I think I could for a couple more months. I need something more. Painting is therapeutic for me, but I haven’t done that yet. Swimming in the ocean is also therapeutic.
Question 5: How often do you leave the house, and who leaves the house most often?

Answer 7: Recently on the news, I saw that scientists revealed that UV light kills the virus, so I am hoping that it will end this summer because everyone will go to the beach and get some sun.

He knows pretty much everything, we only know what we know. He knows that some people die from it, he knows its a form of the flu, and he knows that’s why we can’t go anywhere. He asks a lot of questions and we answer them.

Mahalo Aunty Stacey for allowing me to interview you!.
In this new segment of the website, we will be featuring members of our congregation through interviews. The youth of the church will contact people, ask them questions and write up interview articles. This not only encourages those interviewed and helps the youth build their writing skills, but also helps us learn about one another. If you would like to volunteer to be interviewed, please email Kris at mskriswolf@gmail.com or call her at 808-896-9027.
Many thanks to our first interviewee, Randy Lorenzo and the journalist Koral Smith.
How are you adjusting to this lifestyle?
I don’t know, I think like everyone else, the best we can, considering the circumstances. We can’t go to work. There’s no social life. I’ve been keeping myself busy by helping my friend enclose her garage and play tennis. No music, except for recording. Suffering from cabin fever.
How much processed food have you consumed?
That's an interesting question. If I don’t have to, not much. But otherwise, if I’m lazy, I’ll open up a can and make myself breakfast. Or I just go out and order lunch. I’ve been eating a lot of fruit and honey. Just so you know, tonight I’m having spaghetti and meatballs.
Do you still practice music?
I try to practice as music is possible, because it is important to do, and because it is good to do. I’ve been recording a lot. I’ve acquired this new recording program, and I don’t understand the jargon of it sometimes. And it's very frustrating, but I need to learn it, but it’s interesting and it would be good for me to do.
Do you still do the church’s maintenance?
Not so much maintenance. Our decorators aren’t there. No weed whackers. Since the virus happened, everyone keeps their distance. I live there, so I'm pretty much the “watch dog” you might say.
How long until you are completely adjusted to the way things are?
I don’t know, I can’t say because I don’t know how long this virus thing is going to last and I just think we need to do what we need to do. And there are a lot of frustrating people out there, and you have to be patient. Just let it go. It’s kind of interesting how people respond/react to this whole virus thing. I just see it as the devil making trouble.
How often do you go shopping?
Since I live in Volcano, I try to do it as little as possible because it is a lot of driving, so I always make a list of what I need, essential things. So, I always make a list as to what I really need. Just saves me stress. I try not to go into town as much unless I’m playing tennis.
What do you think you could have done to prepare yourself better?
You know, that's an interesting question. No more than anyone else that got supplies with this thing. Because it just kind of came, and next thing you know everyone is wearing masks. And I don’t think we had a fair enough warning. You know I could start blaming everyone else, but you just got to do what you got to do and just pay attention to what’s going on. When it came I just thought “here are the rules, and this is what's going on”. And it happened when I realized that this is a serious thing. I don’t think that I could do anything much better than I already am. I just watch the news and pray a lot.
What high school did you go to?
I went to Kailua High School on Oahu.
Where was your first job?
Let’s see my first job was working with my dad at a nursery, my first physical job. My other jobs I began getting paid for music when I was 11 or 12, so it depends.
When did you first get into music?
I think I was probably 9, 8 or 9 years old.
Extras:
I'm glad that you decided to have me do an interview with you. I hope it works for you and I hope that it helps you and I'm really flattered that you asked me to do this. And who knows you might become a journalist. You never know. We have to be safe and healthy.
